An American Palette
by Barbara O’Donnell

"An American Palette" ISBN 0-9747234-6-0 is especially valuable as a piece of American history in that it paints with a concerned observer's words, a portrait of a nation forever changed by the events of 2001 and 2002. It also dares to sketch a people at times trapped within the confines of their own flawed thinking. The poet behind these word paintings further provides her readers a small self portrait as well as illustrations of love and a brief glimpse of the nature scenes most precious to her. Overall, "An American Palette" is a collection of crisp, clean, "no frills" verse free of lavish imagery and hidden meanings. It is a quick read implanting visions that pull the reader back for a second and third reading. Definitely a collectable and a nice book for a bedside table or guest room.
